Products for the first phase

In the first phase of Atkins diet without restrictions it is possible to use:

* meat, fish, a bird in a “pure” kind. If use products from them (sausage, pastes, etc.), necessarily check the maintenance of carbohydrate specified on packing and if it exceeds 0.5 % include them in calculation of the general number of the consumed carbohydrate;
* cheeses. In the majority of cheeses the maintenance of carbohydrate practically zero, and atkins diet allows to use such cheeses without restrictions. But do not forget, that some cultivars of cheeses (especially - “sweet” swiming curd cakes) contain rather decent quantity of carbohydrate. Such cheeses should be excluded from the diet and if have casually bought such - consider it at calculation of total of the consumed carbohydrate;
* marine products. As well as in cheeses, in the majority of marine products the maintenance of carbohydrate to practically equally zero, but nevertheless at purchase read attentively, that is in this respect written on a label;
* the eggs prepared in any way, but without addition of the products containing carbohydrate;
* vegetables and greengrocery: cucumbers, a garden radish, a radish, pepper, garlic, olives, lettuce, chicory, a parsley, a paprika, a celery, fennel, a basil, a thyme, ginger;
* mushrooms;
* oils vegetable: all are resolved natural, is better - crude cold;
* animal fats: a natural butter, a fish-oil;
* beverages: water, simple and mineral, tea without sugar (it is better - green or from grasses), various beverages with sugar substitutes, not containing carbohydrate.

In small amounts, counting up quantity of carbohydrate containing in these products, it is possible to use:

* tomatoes, cabbage, eggplants, a green peas, onion, spinage, an asparagus;
* seeds of cereals;
* sour cream.

In the first phase of atkins diet are strictly forbidden:

* sugar and sweets;
* bread, any farinaceous products;
* fruit, cracmol vegetables;
* margarine, cooking fats, so-called “light oils”;
* alcohol.

The second phase of Atkins Diet

After the first phase lasting 14 days during which time in your organism there should be necessary changes in metabolism process, it is necessary to pass to the second phase, to adhere which it is necessary during all life. In the beginning of the second phase it is necessary to increase gradually consumption of carbohydrate by practical consideration to find level approaching for you - such at which the weight will decrease very smoothly and gradually. Practically inevitable in the first phase - wilt, drowsiness, working capacity decrease, constant feeling of hunger thus should disappear. When the desirable weight of a body will be reached, it is necessary still hardly to increase quantity of carbohydrate in the diet, to such level when your weight is stabilised at the necessary level.

As we see, Atkins diet demands constant calculation of consumed carbohydrate and regular weight control of a body. After all to define quantity of carbohydrate at which your weight is stabilised, it is possible only by practical consideration, by trial and error. To be weighed for correct weight control of a body it is necessary every day during one time, is better - in the morning, till a breakfast, on the same scales, in the same clothes (and it is better without clothes).

In the second phase it is authorised to use in small amounts some of the products forbidden in the first phase: vegetables, berries and fruit (mainly unsweetened), black bread. The alcohol small amount is supposed.

If during the second phase there were gross infringements of the diet ordered by doctor Atkinsom therefore the weight has started to grow considerably, it is necessary to repeat the first phase.
Contra-indications to Atkins diet.

Atkins diet is categorically counter-indicative at a diabetes, during pregnancy and lactation. This diet is not recommended also at the raised level of cholesterol. The diet is recommended to be begun only at a good state of health.
